Guided by guest feedback and NCL’s brand promise that the best vacation is one where no one has to settle for less than the experiences they want most, Norwegian Aura will introduce more of what guests love to create unforgettable moments for families, couples, solo travellers and everyone in between. Additions include the industry’s most expansive Thermal Suite, featuring 15 wellness experiences designed for relaxation, recovery and rejuvenation; as well as Tamara, NCL’s first specialty restaurant dedicated to Indian cuisine and The Panorama Room, an immersive reimagining of complimentary dining at sea. Throughout the ship, favourite restaurants, bars and lounges have also been redesigned and repositioned to create more space and inviting places to gather with the ease to move from one experience to the next.

A New Era of Wellness at Sea

Spanning two decks, the Mandara Spa, beautifully designed by the Rockwell Group, will utilize the restorative power of nature to create an expansive wellness sanctuary, with spaces and experiences inspired by forest canopies, cave-like retreats, cascading waterfalls and the rhythms of nature.

At the heart of the experience is the industry’s most expansive Thermal Suite, offering 15 wellness amenities, including 11 new experiences, built around the principles of contrast therapy. Guests can move between warm and cool spaces, water features and quiet lounges to create their own relaxation routine, whether they want to unwind after a day ashore, recover from travel or simply enjoy a slower moment at sea.

Among the signature experiences is the Sensory Rain Pool, the first of its kind at sea. This immersive 360-degree experience transforms from calm waters to a tropical rainfall and eventually a dramatic thunderstorm, complete with simulated lightning effects and the sounds of rolling thunder, surrounding guests by nature in an unforgettable way.

Supporting the Thermal Suite’s contrast therapy journey are several new water and thermal offerings, including a Blue Glow Suite, a gentle blue light experience designed to encourage relaxation and support post-travel recovery; a dedicated Foot Spa, to soothe and refresh tired feet and muscles; the Waterfall Experience, where guests can unwind as water cascades over their head and shoulders; a Snow Cave, with rugged, rock-like walls layered with fresh powder white snow whose cold therapy benefits have been known to support the effects of inflammation; a Reflection Pool with panoramic sea views; and guided Hot and Cold Plunge experiences.

Guests can also enjoy a variety of dedicated relaxation spaces throughout the spa, including a Salt Room, the Meditation Lounge, an Aromatic Steam Room, a Finnish Sauna, a Charcoal Sauna and a Zen Lounge.

The spa also features 24 treatment rooms, a full-service salon, Skin Lab, and expanded medi-spa services with IV therapy, NAD+ injections (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide) to support energy and overall vitality, with acupuncture also available. Additionally, the facility will include a state-of-the-art fitness center with dedicated training studios and wellness programming.

New Dining Experiences Plus Expanded Guest Favourites

Continuing NCL’s commitment to delivering more choice and variety, Norwegian Aura’s culinary program includes 22 food and beverage options spanning over 10 distinct cuisines. The offerings on board have been thoughtfully designed so guests can dine how they want, whether seeking a relaxed meal with family, a standout specialty experience or a new global flavour to discover at sea.

Making its debut aboard Norwegian Aura, Tamara will become NCL’s first specialty restaurant dedicated to Indian cuisine. Inspired by the overwhelming popularity of the Indian offerings introduced at Indulge Food Hall with the launch of the Prima Class ships, the new venue elevates those guest-favourite flavours into a dedicated dining experience featuring authentic regional dishes in a sophisticated setting inspired by the architecture and craftsmanship of North Indian temples and courtyards.

Located on Deck 8, Tamara’s design incorporates warm earth tones, intricate detailing and an open-view kitchen anchored by striking tandoor ovens, creating an inviting atmosphere that celebrates both culinary tradition and contemporary dining. Guests will enjoy authentic flavours with dishes like Short-Rib Dosa, a crisp rice-lentil crepe with tomato sambar, fenugreek and coconut chutney; Lamb Biryani, with basmati rice, warm spices and caramelised onions; and a Green Papaya Salad, tossed tableside with pomegranate, tamarind, peanuts, jaggery and chili.  

Also new to Norwegian Aura is The Panorama Room, a completely reimagined complimentary dining experience that transforms traditional main dining through immersive visual technology. Located on Deck 6, the venue features expansive LED displays, multi-channel audio, synchronised lighting and dynamic visuals that evolve throughout the day and evening, transporting guests through ever-changing landscapes, artwork and scenic environments as they dine. Additionally, Hudson’s, the signature main dining room renowned for its sweeping 270-degree ocean views, will debut an elevated new design.

Beyond introducing new concepts, Norwegian Aura’s restaurant collection has been thoughtfully reconfigured for more comfort, easier access between venues and to create additional seating in some of the ship’s most popular venues. On Deck 7, guests will find Le Bistro, featuring a new design with uninterrupted ocean views, where they can enjoy timeless French cuisine; as well as Sukhothai, showcasing a refreshed design that celebrates the culture, craftsmanship and flavours of Thailand. Palomar, offering Mediterranean fare, and the Italian Onda by Scarpetta will be located on Deck 8, where the venues will benefit from expanded seating and a new aesthetic. Cagney’s Steakhouse will also receive a sophisticated redesign, pairing rich and dark colours with the classic atmosphere of a modern steakhouse. The popular Japanese specialty restaurants, Hasuki for hibachi and Nama for sushi, will also return with new decor and a lighter colour palette for a welcoming atmosphere.

Additional enhancements include an expanded Surfside Café, which will now span both sides of the vessel to create a more seamless guest experience, and the return of Indulge Food Hall, featuring nine globally inspired stations. Building on the popularity of NCL’s culinary portfolio in Indulge, guests will enjoy complimentary Mexican favourites inspired by Los Lobos, along with a new Middle Eastern concept and returning favourites including Q Texas Smokehouse, Planterie and Nudls. The Local Bar & Grill is another returning guest favourite, offering an additional complimentary dining option featuring classic pub fare nearly all day.

Guests staying at The Haven, the keycard-access only luxury complex, will enjoy a newly designed The Haven Bar and Lounge and The Haven Restaurant. Studio DADO, longtime partners of Norwegian Cruise Line, designed the private lounge, restaurant and outdoor deck to emulate a tranquil oasis that immerses guests into the world’s natural beauty with earth tones, a lush canopy of trees and delicate finishes.

Throughout Norwegian Aura, public spaces have been refreshed to feel more open, comfortable and connected, reflecting NCL’s signature hospitality with more room for guests to gather, relax and move naturally from one experience to the next on their own terms.

Bars and lounges across the ship will feature refreshed interiors and expanded layouts, including a larger Penrose Bar & Atrium with more than double the seating and a dedicated stage for daily entertainment. With itineraries designed for deeper exploration, ships will spend approximately 80% of each sailing in port, with an average call exceeding 10 hours. 1. Sail Aboard Norwegian Jewel^® as She Debuts in Morocco

Norwegian Jewel will embark on one of her most diverse European seasons to date. During a 12-day Canary Islands roundtrip voyage from Barcelona, Spain, she will debut in Morocco with calls to Casablanca and Agadir, while also calling to Arrecife (Lanzarote) and Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain, for the very first time. Expanding NCL’s offering in the Atlantic, the ship will also operate two dedicated voyages showcasing destinations along the coasts of Spain, France and Portugal – an 11-day repositioning sailing between Barcelona, Spain, and London (Southampton) in May 2028 and a new nine-day roundtrip voyage from London (Southampton) in September 2028. 2. Chase the Midnight Sun Aboard Norwegian Getaway^®

Norwegian Getaway will sail 10- and 11-day Northern Europe itineraries between London (Southampton) and Reykjavik, Iceland, giving guests the chance to start and end their cruise in two distinct destinations. The itineraries will take place during the height of the midnight sun season, when extended daylight means more time to explore ashore. The ship will visit destinations across Norway, Iceland, Belgium, the Netherlands and France, while also making inaugural calls to Grundarfjörður, Iceland and Vik, Norway, the latter marking NCL’s first-ever visit to the destination. At the heart of the restructure is the consolidation of sales and marketing under unified regional leadership. For travel agents across the MEA region, it means a single, aligned team working in step to help them sell NCL more effectively and grow their cruise business with confidence.

Leading that charge in MEA is Gary Anslow, appointed as the region’s new VP. Anslow brings considerable experience to the role, which will serve alongside his position of VP and Head of UK and Ireland, one of NCL’s most established and high-performing markets. He takes over from Kevin Bubolz, who spearheaded NCL’s growth across MEA. Bubolz will now assume full oversight of NCL’s Continental European business. These findings, courtesy of the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) State of the Industry Report, are striking enough on their own. What makes them even more striking is the gap between that reality and the perception that still lingers in many South African households: that cruising is rigid and designed for someone older and far less adventurous than we are.

The product generating those satisfaction scores looks almost nothing like that image. And the sooner South African travellers close that gap, the sooner they access one of the most complete holiday experiences currently available anywhere in the world.

One suitcase, multiple countries, zero compromises

Ask anyone who cruises regularly why they keep coming back, and, according to CLIA, two answers will surface more than any other:

• the ability to visit multiple destinations in a single trip.
• the sense that they are genuinely getting value for their money.

When you examine what a seven-day Mediterranean or Caribbean itinerary actually delivers, it’s not difficult to see why.

A single sailing can take you from Barcelona to the Amalfi Coast and from a morning at the Vatican to an evening watching the sun set over Mykonos. You unpack once and sleep in the same bed every night, and the logistics (including transfers, accommodation, restaurant research, airport queues between cities) simply disappear.

What remains is the travel itself.

“Many cruise lines also offer special packages designed to extend that value further still. The world’s most discerning hospitality brands have been paying close attention to what’s happening at sea. Luxury hotel groups, names synonymous with the finest land-based experiences on the planet, have begun launching their own vessels, recognising that the ship experience has evolved to rival, and in some cases surpass, what their properties can offer on shore.

“What we’re hearing consistently from South African guests is that they arrive expecting a holiday and leave having experienced something they did not anticipate. The ship itself becomes part of the story, and they talk about it the way they talk about the best hotel they’ve ever stayed in – except this one took them to five different countries,” says Sidat.

It is a shift that Sidat observes not as a trend, but as a fundamental recalibration of what travellers understand a holiday to be capable of delivering.

What a modern ship actually looks like

NCL’s newest ship, Norwegian Luna, officially launched on 4 April 2026, and she is as good an illustration as any of where cruise ship design has arrived.

Norwegian Luna belongs to NCL’s Prima Plus Class, a category of vessel built on the philosophy that space, flow, and variety are essentials rather than luxuries. She is 10% larger than her predecessors, and that additional space has been used thoughtfully: wider deck layouts that never feel crowded, expanded dining options, and a range of experiences that sit comfortably at both ends of the spectrum between thrill and tranquillity.

The result is a ship that resists easy categorisation, and that’s precisely the point. The modern cruise vessel is not built for a single type of traveller, but for the reality of how people actually holiday: in groups, across generations, with different appetites for adventure and different definitions of a perfect day at sea.

CLIA data shows that 28% of cruise travellers sail with three or more generations. That’s grandparents, parents, and children sharing the same holiday without anyone having to compromise on what they do with their time. On a ship like Norwegian Luna, a grandparent can spend the morning at a wine tasting while a teenager conquers the Aqua Slidecoaster and a couple savours a private balcony breakfast before heading ashore. Nobody is waiting for anyone, and nobody is bored.

The social architecture of a modern cruise ship is also particularly well suited for solo travellers, a segment that has grown significantly in recent years, with CLIA reporting that one in eight cruise travellers now sails alone. NCL pioneered the studio cabin specifically for solo guests – thoughtfully designed single-occupancy accommodation that does not carry the single supplement penalty that makes solo land-based travel so financially punishing.

The shore has not gone anywhere

It would be a mistake to read any of this as an argument for staying on the ship. The destination still matters deeply. What modern cruising has done is raise the quality of both sides of the equation simultaneously.

“What I find most exciting is that we’re still in the early stages of South Africans discovering what modern cruising really offers. That word of mouth is the most honest endorsement the product can receive, and it tells you everything about the experience they are having,” Sidat concludes.

With over 2,000 guests in attendance, the beloved christening ceremony – rooted in the maritime tradition of blessing a vessel before it officially begins its life at sea – took place at the Company’s LEED^® Gold Certified terminal at PortMiami. During her first year of service, Norwegian Luna will homeport in Miami and offer a variety of three- and four-day Bahamas voyages, as well as seven-day Caribbean itineraries, taking guests to the most celebrated beach destinations in the region. It could be lectures on history, language or geology or even hands-on art workshops and cooking classes. Each designed to enrich your understanding of a destination – and enhance shore excursions.”

Cultural dining

While expansive breakfasts and family-friendly buffets are still an important part of the cruise experience, specialist restaurants and guest chefs are now firmly on the menu. For Sidat, it’s a celebration of global flavours and local heritage – one that allows guests to embark on a gastronomic adventure linked to the regions they visit.

This means that a Mediterranean cruise might offer locally sourced menus and regional dishes, or a Caribbean voyage may feature flavours that echo vibrant island culture.

Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL), the innovator in global cruise travel, has announced the upcoming debut of what is sure to be its most electrifying entertainment experience yet — “Rocket Man: A Celebration of Elton John,” a dazzling, hit-filled tribute to the legendary icon, and the groundbreaking mixed reality show “HIKO” – scheduled to premiere on the all-new Norwegian Luna in March 2026.

Developed by the award-winning Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings’ Creative Studios in Tampa, Fla., these productions are designed to captivate a broad spectrum of guests – from lifelong music lovers and pop culture enthusiasts to multigenerational families – and to complement the robust lineup of new and returning experiences that elevate entertainment at sea and reflect NCL’s bold pivot toward immersive, headline-worthy programming.

Guests will be dazzled by “Rocket Man: A Celebration of Elton John,” a high-energy Elton John concert-style show created using elements of Elton’s rich archive of footage and imagery. In celebration of the “EGOT”[1] winner’s legendary career, the onboard production will feature timeless hits like “Rocket Man,” “Tiny Dancer,” “Bennie and the Jets,” “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” and more.

Aboard Norwegian Luna, the Company will also introduce an additional completely original production, “HIKO: Innovation Meets Wonder,” a groundbreaking sci-fi show that blends Cirque artistry with mixed reality visuals. Kids will love “Sea of Discovery! An Under-the-Sea Festival,” a brand-new interactive experience designed to spark creativity and curiosity.

Rocket Man: A Celebration of Elton John

A bold, hit-driven tribute to the trailblazing and universally adored Elton John, “Rocket Man: A Celebration of Elton John” is an electrifying production featuring powerhouse vocals, jaw-dropping choreography, and fashion-forward costumes that pay homage to Elton’s signature style. Set on a concert-inspired stage with vibrant LED visuals and stunning scenic design including four different grand pianos, the show immerses guests in the music and spirit of one of the most iconic performers of all time. Guests will be delighted with archival footage of the singer’s iconic performances throughout the years, as well as interactive elements to immerse viewers into the extraordinary show.

Led by choreographer and creative director Katy Tate; creative director and Emmy^® Award-winning choreographer Tabitha D’umo; scenic designer Kley Tarcitano; and costume designer Sky Switser, they have crafted one of the most dynamic productions ever staged at sea.

HIKO: Innovation Meets Wonder

Inspired by the celestial spirit of Norwegian Luna, “HIKO: Innovation Meets Wonder” is an otherworldly new production that blends cutting-edge 3D mapping, multi-sensory video projection and a fully original score exclusive to NCL that transports guests to a futuristic world.

For the first time ever, NCL introduces an original character, HIKO, whom guests can encounter throughout Norwegian Luna in an interactive meet-and-greet experience that brings the magic of the show to life beyond the stage. The production features four elite gymnasts—the most ever in an NCL show—performing gravity-defying acts. These thrilling performances are set against a backdrop of mesmerizing visuals and sci-fi-inspired costumes designed by Guy Brassard, a longtime collaborator with Cirque du Soleil.

Sea of Discovery! An Under-the-Sea Festival: A New Era of Family Entertainment

Norwegian Cruise Line is proud to introduce “Sea of Discovery! An Under-the-Sea Festival,” a first-of-its-kind original experience developed in-house and curated specifically for children. Inspired by nostalgic field day activities, this enchanting event follows an inquisitive fish on an interactive adventure through the ocean. With glow games, whimsical costumes, awe-inspiring visuals, “Sea of Discovery! An Under-the-Sea Festival” invites families to play, learn and connect in a hands-on showcase of imagination.

A Brand-New Rock-N-Roll Show and Live Entertainment

Following the success and popularity of “Syd Norman’s Presents: Rumours,” Norwegian Luna will boast a brand-new show, “Syd Norman’s Presents: A Tribute to Eagles,” bringing classic rock anthems and the spirit of the 1970s to the mainstage in the Luna Theatre for more guests to enjoy.

Separately, the Syd Norman’s Pour House bar and entertainment space inspired by L.A.’s notorious 1960s rock scene is getting an upgrade aboard Norwegian Luna with exciting new additions, including a throwback ‘90s set and Live Band Karaoke.

LunaTique – A Daring New Party Experience for Adults

Making its debut on Norwegian Luna, “LunaTique” will be the ship’s exclusive production for guests 21 and older at The Improv at Sea, a returning favourite and intimate venue for NCL’s comedy shows. Inspired by the thrill, sparkle, and nonstop energy of Las Vegas nightlife, this striking, after-hours experience features neon aesthetics, signature cocktails, and character-driven performances.

Classic circus archetypes—ringmasters, acrobats, clowns, and strongmen—are reimagined as edgy, fashion-forward personas in a pop-infused show designed for unforgettable nights at sea. Costume design by Brooklyn-based duo James Nguyen and A.C. Gottlieb, known for their inventive, theatrical work with rising pop star Chappell Roan, bring a fresh, contemporary edge to the production, which will make “LunaTique” one of the most visually striking and stylistically daring experiences aboard Norwegian Luna.

Reimagined Guest Favourites and Signature Events

Building on the success of First Night, the high-energy welcome aboard show that was first introduced on Norwegian Bliss^® and Norwegian Encore^®, Norwegian Luna presents a reimagined kickoff celebration in the Luna Theatre that showcases the entertainment lineup guests will experience on their voyage ahead through a montage of performances.

The Luna Theatre & Club, like the Theatre & Club aboard Norwegian Aqua^®, Norwegian Prima^® and Norwegian Viva^®, will transform from a three-story theatre to a three-story Vegas-style nightclub featuring an expansive dance floor, an enhanced and interactive chandelier, state-of-the-art lighting, and more. Boasting two different bars, the Luna Theatre & Club will showcase all nightclub programming including the new Norwegian Luna Eclipse Party, which is a festival-inspired glow party that draws from global nightlife trends, featuring eye-catching visuals and an upbeat soundtrack. The ship will also debut “Planetdisco” which will transport guests to an electrifying world of classic disco with a lively ensemble of performers to dance the night away.

NCL is also ramping up the deck parties aboard Norwegian Luna with two all-new party concepts:

• Island Nights brings the vibrant spirit of the islands to life with a modern pop edge at sea.

Norwegian Luna Inaugural Season in the Caribbean and Bermuda

Beginning in April 2026, Norwegian Luna will sail seven-day voyages featuring calls to the Western Caribbean destinations of Roatan, Honduras; Costa Maya and Cozumel, Mexico; and Harvest Caye, Belize, the Brand’s resort-style destination. Norwegian Luna will also offer seven-day itineraries with calls to Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic; Tortola, British Virgin Islands; St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands; and Great Stirrup Cay, NCL’s private island in the Bahamas, which will soon debut a nearly six-acre Great Tides Waterpark with 19 waterslides, cliffside jumps and a dynamic river, as well as new swim-up bars, a heated pool and expanded cabanas.

From April 2027 through October 2027, Norwegian Luna will offer guests four and seven-day round-trip itineraries to Bermuda from New York. With more time in port and overnight stays in Bermuda, guests can experience coastal adventures on pink sandy beaches and sea activities including catamaran boat rides, cave dives and sunset cruises.

From cliff jumps and jet karts to swim-up bars and splash zones, the expansion of the island’s offerings is designed to elevate every guest’s experience – adults and kids alike – with more freedom, more flexibility and more ways for them to discover “The Great Life!” at Great Stirrup Cay.

BIG SPLASH, BIGGER ESCAPE: GREAT TIDES WATERPARK WILL DELIVER INDUSTRY FIRST EXPERIENCES WITH ADRENALINE-BOOSTING AND LAID-BACK ADVENTURES

Anchored by 19 waterslides – from adrenaline-boosting to laid-back adventure – a nearly 800-foot dynamic river, the 9,000-square-foot splash zone for kids, and the industry’s first cliffside jumps, Great Tides Waterpark will deliver guests MORE to do and MORE to enjoy.  

At 170-feet, the unmissable Tidal Tower will be home to eight thrilling waterslides, including the two tallest slides of the tower where guests can experience splashing drops and thrilling climbs on an inner tube for an exhilarating ride. Additional slides include racing slides where guests can speed to the finish line on a mat, tube slides which features large spirals and spins that send guests in a whole other direction as they shoot down in a burst of excitement, as well as exciting body slides. To make it even easier to enjoy, select slides will include convenient conveyer belts to lift the rafts to the top of the tower, eliminating the tedious task of guests carrying them up on their own.

Families and adventure seekers will be able to let loose at Cliffside Cove with racer slides, two different cliff jumps standing at 10 and 15 feet tall – a cruise industry first – as well as the Caribbean’s only family slide, where four guests can slide down simultaneously. For those who prefer to enjoy from the sidelines, The Grotto Bar, a hidden cave bar tucked under the family slide, will offer the best people watching with a cocktail in hand.

At the center of Great Tides Waterpark, a 9,000-square-foot kids splash zone will provide a water wonderland for little ones with an oversized tipping bucket towering at over 40 feet above the ground. Eight mini slides and interactive water features complete this aquatic paradise for children of all ages. The waterpark will also feature a dynamic river, an immersive water experience with an accelerated current that will be faster and more exciting than a typical lazy river. At 800 feet long guests will be able to enter the dynamic river from several points, including a wading pool with a conveniently located swim-up bar nearby. A highlight on the river will be an illuminated grotto tunnel featuring a dreamlike bioluminescent scene for the ultimate multi-sensory experience. Well-located cabanas will be situated at the edge of the dynamic river, and the kids splash zone for premium access to the popular family areas.

MORE WAYS TO ENJOY ‘THE GREAT LIFE’: ISLAND ENHANCEMENTS FOR EVERYONE

An all-new mini aquatic racecourse with jet karts – combining elements of go-karting and jet skiing – will soon be one of the top shore excursions available on the island for adventure seekers.

Debuting later this year, guests will start to enjoy some of the first enhanced experiences at Great Stirrup Cay, beginning with the opening of the brand-new heated pool, a new multi-ship pier, the scenic welcome plaza, and an island-wide tram service that will make it easier than ever to get around the island and escape to “The Great Life.” The Great Life Lagoon, the recently announced expansive 1.4-acre pool area, will be complete with private ocean and pool view cabanas and villas, an abundance of complimentary loungers and two swim-up bars offering a selection of refreshing beverages including kid-friendly drinks and adult-favourite cocktails. Each bar will have its own ambiance, with Reef Bar designed to be more vibrant with a DJ spinning all-day beats. The Waves Bar will be on the opposite side of the pool where a beach-style entrance leads to an exciting splash area for kids with fun water features. Another popular family space will be the 3,400-square-foot Splash Harbor, a complimentary splash pad steps away from the brand-new heated pool, with interactive water fountains, aquatic features and a shaded bar and lounge for the parents to relax while the kids are at play.

For guests who enjoy their fair share of competition, the soon-to-be all-new complimentary recreational area, Horizon Park, will feature lawn style games, pickleball courts, a nine-hole mini golf course, half a sports court and more. Designed to provide the ultimate beachside relaxation, Hammock Bay will include over 50 hammocks for the perfect afternoon nap, a dedicated bar and will be conveniently located near the guest-favourite BBQ buffet. Or if exclusive oceanfront luxury is preferred, Vibe Shore Club, the adults-only area, will offer a chicer ambiance with a private bar, hanging day beds and premium lounge seating. GREAT STIRRUP CAY ITINERARIES HEAT UP IN 2026

As the Company transforms Great Stirrup Cay, and due to the growing guest demand of Caribbean and Bahamas sailings, Norwegian Cruise Line is set to welcome one million guests to Great Stirrup Cay across 15 of its ships in 2026.
