Facilities: A 24 hour business centre for those needing to catch up on emails, six dedicated conference rooms for workshops and events, and ample availability with 115 room options.

BON Hotel Empangeni

Location: 64 Turnbull street, Empangeni Central Empangeni, KwaZulu-Natal

Best for: Creative teams who want to kick back and try more hands-on team activities.

Facilities: 55 rooms, an in-house restaurant (The De Hoff Cellar Restaurant), a bar (The Empangeni Bar), and four meeting rooms with seating for up to 230 delegates.

Creatives, assemble! BON Hotel Empangeni ticks all the right boxes for a corporate team build with fun-filled activities like their interactive murder mystery CSI Challenge, Minute to Win it Challenge, and Big Quiz. There’s also the Big Picture art challenge, where teams must work to create an enormous piece of artwork (which can then be displayed back at the office). For groups who love hands-on tasks, there’s also a go-cart construction challenge on offer and a newsroom challenge, which includes a plethora of materials and printing access. Want to include more game viewing? The Hluhluwe – Imfolozi Reserve is just an hour’s drive away should safari excursions top your team’s agenda.

Shishangeni by BON Hotels

Location: Mpanamana Concession, Crocodile Gate, Kruger Park, Mpumalanga

Best for: Nature-loving corporate teams who appreciate safari-style getaways and functions.

Facilities: Shishangeni by BON Hotels comprises three camps: Shishangeni Private Lodge, Camp Shonga, which can accommodate up to 65 guests. There’s also a sparkling swimming pool and private spa on-site.

The biggest draw for corporate teams at Shishangeni by BON Hotels, is not just what is available on-site, but all the accessible activities and excursions in the surrounding region. With The Kruger right on your doorstep, there’s more than enough to fill the itinerary in between meetings, workshops, and meals. Facilities: 75 modern rooms, three meeting rooms accommodating up to 80 delegates, and high-speed. There’s also a swimming pool, a restaurant, a cocktail bar and lounge, and complimentary WiFi.

Aside from access to an experienced event coordination team, BON Hotel Waterfront Richards Bay also enlists the help of a specialised team building company to ensure a seamless experience for corporates. Some of the activities on offer include an Indiana Jones Challenge, where teams compete for various ‘artefacts’, a MasterChef-inspired potjie challenge, and a movie-making challenge where teams must create their own Oscar-worthy film. Want to get outdoors? Opt for beach or field Olympics for an added dose of adrenaline-pumping fun. Or, how about trying the Minute to Win It cocktail-making challenge?
