Combine Luxury with Conservation at Morukuru Family in De Hoop Nature Reserve

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DE HOOP NATURE RESERVE, WESTERN CAPE, 13 March 2024

Stay with a purpose at Morukuru Family’s Annual Beach Clean-Up weekend in De Hoop Nature Reserve

Luxury hospitality group Morukuru Family leads the way in sustainable travel experiences with their 3rd Annual Beach Clean-up event at De Hoop Nature Reserve, held 17-19 May, in conjunction with CapeNature and as a project of Morukuru Goodwill Foundation. The event offers conservation-minded travellers an opportunity to engage in meaningful environmental work while enjoying discounted rates at the prestigious Morukuru Beach Lodge and Morukuru Ocean House (the latter usually reserved for exclusive use).

With over 923,000,000 Google searches for “sustainable travel 2024” already this year, reflecting a significant uptick from 2023’s total of 629,000,000, it’s clear that responsible tourism practices are top of mind for travellers. A 2023 Booking.com study further solidifies this trend, with 76% of respondents expressing a desire to travel more sustainably.

Morukuru Family is answering this call by harmonising luxury hospitality with environmental preservation. Hosted at De Hoop Nature Reserve, an ecological treasure boasting the largest Overberg Renosterveld vegetation in the world and a sanctuary for over 260 bird species, the clean-up initiative allows participants to revitalise the reserve’s pristine beaches.

“This year’s clean-up initiative emphasises environmental consciousness and offers a chance for volunteers to enjoy a luxurious, bucket list-worthy escape at special rates, starting from just R3,250 per adult per night sharing,” comments Ed Zeeman, owner of Morukuru Family.

The event promises a balanced blend of purposeful conservation activity and leisure, allowing participants to indulge in the comfort and elegance of Morukuru Family’s accommodations. With all necessary equipment provided by Morukuru Family, volunteers can dedicate their efforts to revitalising the beach. Beyond the hours spent exploring the reserve during the clean-up, the experience is enriched with lunch at Bites Beach Café, dinners at Morukuru Beach Lodge, and leisurely sundowners amidst the dunes.

To ensure a spot in this exclusive event, Morukuru Family encourages interested individuals to get in touch. For bookings and further information, please contact Morukuru Family directly via reservations@morukuru.com / 011-615 4303 or, for day visitor arrangements on Saturday 18 May only, contact dehoop@morukuru.com.

“We look forward to meeting and treating this year’s participants to a rewarding experience where luxury meets conservation,” Zeeman concludes.
