ATTA® Appoints Taqi Moledina to Board Amid Record Growth in African Tourism

LONDON, 7 October 2025 – The African Travel & Tourism Association (ATTA®), the leading pan-African trade association for the travel industry, has announced the appointment of Taqi Moledina, Chairman of ARP Africa Travel Group, to its Board of Directors, effective 1 October 2025.

Moledina joins ATTA® at a pivotal time for the African tourism industry, which recorded a remarkable 12% increase in international tourist arrivals during the first half of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024. As global attention turns to Africa’s diverse destinations, Moledina’s appointment underscores ATTA®’s commitment to harnessing this momentum and accelerating responsible growth.

With nearly 25 years at ARP Africa Travel Group, Moledina has played a transformative role in establishing the company among Africa’s most respected destination management organisations. Rising from leadership positions to CEO and now Chairman, his vision has driven ARP’s expansion into new markets, nurtured global partnerships, and elevated Africa’s reputation as a premier destination.

James Haigh, Chair of ATTA® and Head of Sales & Marketing at Lemala Camps & Lodges, commented:

“I am delighted to welcome Taqi Moledina to the Board. Having worked alongside him – and on occasion as a competitor – for many years, I know first-hand the depth of his industry knowledge, his integrity, and his unwavering commitment to Africa’s tourism sector. Taqi’s leadership at ARP Africa Travel Group has consistently balanced commercial insight with a genuine passion for Africa, making him an outstanding choice to guide ATTA® into its next chapter. I look forward to working closely with him as we continue to champion African tourism on the global stage.”

Taqi Moledina added:

“Our continent’s unique heritage and entrepreneurial spirit have made it a beacon for travellers seeking meaningful experiences. I look forward to working with the board and our industry partners to ensure that our industry’s growth is sustainable, inclusive, and positions Africa as an enduring leader in global tourism.”

Moledina’s appointment marks a strategic inflection point for ATTA®, as the association deepens its mission to unite and empower Africa’s tourism professionals.
