‘Essence of Africa’ to Match Global Travel Buyers with Continent’s Leading Tourism Experts

Nairobi, 2 December 2024 – It’s go-time for the inaugural Essence of Africa meetings-driven tourism event, taking place from 2–4 December in Nairobi, Kenya. The event is a key platform for tourism professionals and thought leaders to explore cutting-edge content sessions addressing the future of sustainable tourism and global marketing of Africa.

An important gathering aimed at driving innovation in African tourism, this year’s event features thought-provoking discussions on topics at the heart of the industry, led by esteemed speakers including Amos Wekesa of Great Lakes Safaris Limited, Judith Lagat Tanchu of Cheli & Peacock Safaris, and Mohanjeet Brar of Gamewatchers Safaris & Porini Camps. From building sustainable business models that benefit local communities to bold strategies for marketing Africa’s many offerings to global audiences, these sessions promise to deliver actionable insights that will promote tourism growth across the continent.

“We’re proud to offer content sessions that showcase the immense potential of African tourism,” says Chris Mears, co-founder of Essence of Africa. “We’re here to inspire dialogue, highlight solutions, and explore new ideas that will help African destinations flourish in the global tourism landscape.”

But there’s more to Essence of Africa than just knowledge-sharing. The event’s carefully curated programme includes high-level networking, one-on-one meetings between exhibitors and buyers, and immersive FAM trips, all designed to spark deeper connections and partnerships within the sector.

“Essence of Africa is a movement to reposition Africa as one of the world’s most diverse and exciting travel destinations. It’s an opportunity to engage with key players in the tourism industry, learn from thought leaders, and gain fresh insights into Africa’s dynamic travel industry,” co-founder Amanda Margison concludes.

About Essence of Africa:

Essence of Africa is a private sector-led initiative designed to connect international buyers with African tourism suppliers. The event features pre-scheduled meetings, networking events, educational seminars, and familiarisation trips, providing a comprehensive platform for business development and collaboration.
