Monwana Game Lodge joins the MORE Family Collection portfolio, positioned alongside Lion Sands Ivory Lodge as a premium luxury safari property – now offers guests an opportunity for extended Greater Kruger National Park safari adventures.
JOHANNESBURG, 15 JUNE 2023 – MORE Family Collection welcomes Monwana Game Lodge to its extensive property portfolio, building on the long-standing friendship and shared vision between the two brands.
Previously allied with Safari Lodges and Classic Retreats (SLACRSA), Monwana Game Lodge offers an exclusive safari experience in the Thornybush Nature Reserve, a private 14,000-hectare reserve adjacent to the Greater Kruger National Park.
“We are obviously sad to see her leave our portfolio but at the same time we are delighted to hear she is going to be joining Robert at the MORE Family Collection,” says SALCRSA Managing Director Andre Celliers.
Says Robert More, CEO and Custodian of the MORE Family Collection: “It has been an absolute delight seeing the Monwana Family and Andre Celliers, who introduced her to the market, give rise to such an amazing new addition to the Thornybush Reserve. It is for us an absolute privilege and pleasure to have her joining the MORE Family Collection, giving company to our special Lion Sands Ivory Lodge.”
Caretaking the lodge’s sales, marketing and reservations from 19 June 2023, MORE Family Collection will position Monwana Game Lodge alongside its flagship property, Lion Sands Ivory Lodge.
“This will offer our premium guests the choice between the Sabi Sand Nature Reserve and/or the Thornybush Reserve. We are anticipating a number of our guests staying at both during their extended safari adventure in the Kruger region,” More adds.
Monwana will also be incorporated into existing MORE Family Collection promotions, with two new promotions introduced – SeeMORE (Monwana and Cape Cadogan Boutique Hotel) and SafariMORE (three nights Lion Sands Ivory Lodge and three nights Monwana).
Monwana Game Lodge
Thornybush Nature Reserve has an abundance of non-migratory species, including the Big 5, that guarantees exceptional safari experiences all year round. Game drives and bush walks with experienced guides and trackers on this private 14,000-hectare reserve, are unhurried and uncrowded. This intimate lodge hosts a maximum of 16 guests promising a customised private safari experience.
There is an active waterhole and a dry riverbed in front of the lodge that sees the passage of a diversity of wildlife. There are six suites, two of which cater for families, as well as the two-bedroom Monwana Residence which has its own private safari vehicle and field guide team, as well as a residence butler and chef.
Each of the suites have their own private plunge pool and spacious deck from which to observe the wildlife. The main lodge has a spacious lounge and deck, lap pool, spa, gym, and even a wine cellar for wine tasting experiences.
The food ethos is designed around an authentic and informal bistro ambience, with fresh, healthy, sustainably and ethically sourced produce. Bush dinners, bush breakfasts, picnics, surprise bush stops, and riverbed dining under the stars are always part of our guest experience.
Embodying a spirit of ‘coming home’, Monwana Game Lodge encourages reconnection with nature and oneself. This ethos aligns perfectly with MORE Family Collection’s passion for creating experiences that enrich lives.
