SAVRALA EXTENDS HEARTFELT CONDOLENCES TO THE FAMILY OF FATALLY WOUNDED GERMAN TOURIST
JOHANNESBURG, 4 OCTOBER 2022 – SAVRALA wishes to extend its heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the German tourist who died in the attempted hijacking which took place on the R538 in Mpumalanga yesterday.
Says Sandile Ntseoane, GM SAVRALA: “It is an absolute tragedy and one that has left us reeling. Our thoughts are with the victim’s loved ones as they mourn this incredible loss.”
According to SAPS, four tourists travelling to Numbi Gate were allegedly stopped by three armed suspects in a VW Caddy. The suspects are alleged to have instructed the tourists to open the doors of their vehicle and when the driver reportedly locked all the doors, one of the suspects shot him through the window. He died on the scene. The suspects reportedly sped off in their vehicle without taking anything from the tourists.
SAPS has launched a manhunt for the suspects and urged anyone with any information that may assist in apprehending the perpetrators to immediately call the Crime Stop number at 08600 10111 or send information via MYSAPSAPP. All received information will be treated as confidential and callers may opt to remain anonymous.
“The tourism sector has mobilised, and emergency protocols have been activated to bring the perpetrators to book. Further, we urge authorities to ramp up the security measures that had already been instituted in the area to ensure the safety of travellers so that this never happens again,” Ntseoane concludes.
