A Year to be Proud of: Zambezi Queen Collection’s Chobe River Cruises Receive Global Recognition for Excellence and Sustainability

CAPE TOWN, 23 OCTOBER 2023 – Zambezi Queen Collection, a leading luxury cruise provider along the Chobe River between Namibia and Botswana, is delighted to announce its achievement of two prestigious World Travel Awards for 2023. This reflects the company’s unwavering dedication to delivering exceptional experiences while promoting animal welfare and conservation efforts.

Most notably, Zambezi Queen Collection by Mantis has been honoured with the first Global Humane CertifiedTM designation from Humane Society International. This distinct certification indicates Zambezi Queen Collection meets comprehensive criteria for animal welfare and responsible tourism.

“As sustainable and ethical travel continues to grow in popularity, this certification enables Zambezi Queen Collection to stand out to discerning travellers looking for a humane tourism experience, providing our guests with true peace of mind,” says Kate Powell, General Manager, Sales and Marketing at Zambezi Queen Collection.

In addition, at the 3rd Annual Cruise Awards on 15 October 2023, Zambezi Queen Collection was recognised as a winner in the below categories:
Winner – Africa’s Best River Cruise Line 2023: Zambezi Queen Collection
Winner – Africa’s Best River Cruise Suite 2023: Luxury Suite – Zambezi Queen

“These awards applaud Zambezi Queen Collection’s consistent delivery of superior guest service and experiences,” adds Powell.

The company invested significantly in enhancing the guest experience by undertaking an all-deck, all-suite refurbishment of the flagship Zambezi Queen, completed in February 2023. The refurbishment updated guest amenities and public areas to the highest standards of comfort.

Zambezi Queen Collection has also been nominated in the World categories of the World Travel Awards, standing in line to win the ‘World’s Leading River Cruise Company 2023’ title. Botswana is having its moment in the spotlight, too with the destination scooping up both the World and Africa’s Best River Cruise Destination 2023 awards.

“The World categories are the highest in the World Travel Awards programme, so we are incredibly proud of this nomination, too,” adds Powell. “Guests can still vote for us in this category at worldtravelawards.com or by visiting the voting page here. Voting runs until midnight 17 November 2023.”

The Zambezi Queen Collection was also named as the Winner in Africa’s Leading River Cruise Company 2023 category in the World Travel Awards, an award the company has won consistently since 2018.

”We are honoured to earn these prestigious global awards, which are a testament to our team’s passion for creating unforgettable river cruise experiences,” said Powell. “Our core values of luxury, sustainability, conservation, and community upliftment are reflected in everything we do, and these recognitions encourage us to continue raising the bar even higher.”
